Hello,
I'm Lourdes
Owner/ Alterations Specialist
How many years have you been working in bridal?
Since 1994- it's been a long time coming!
Where does your passion for bridal come from?
My mother, she worked at home as as seamstress and would give me her scraps of fabric to make clothes for my dolls and I eventually loved the idea of making something from scratch (like she did). When she opened up Illusion Bridal in the 70's I saw her make dresses and see how happy brides were in their beautiful dress.
Describe one of your most memorable moments working in the bridal industry:
I will never forget my first bridal market. Seeing all the big designer brands in person, shopping with them and knowing I would be bringing them in to *my* bridal shop was such a pinch me moment. It still feels so surreal to know I'm living out my dream.
What's one thing you wish brides knew- but can't tell them?
If you're between dresses, pick the dress you see yourself wearing- not other's opinion of what they think you should wear. Trust yourself!
One piece of timeless marriage advice you give a bride.
I have a few pieces of advice-firstly, for me it felt like I was marrying my best friend and I believe it should feel like that! Also, it's true when they say communication is key. Take the time to enjoy each other as a couple during the engagement and marriage season. Time really truly does fly so I would also recommend to set goals and work towards them together as a team. (what ever that means for you and your partner)
Who is your favorite wedding dress designer?
I've always liked Allure Bridals- they're a top designer in the world for a reason!
What are you passionate about outside of work?
I love cooking, baking, and gardening when I'm not working. I hardly see my work as anything other than one of my passions.
